Earth Day Celebrations in Sacramento

April 1, 2011

Spring has finally sprung here in Sacramento. The weather is wonderful, the flowers are blooming and all the spring festivities are about to begin.

Every April, families come together to celebrate Earth Day, and Sacramento has several opportunities where you can get out, learn about the environment and enjoy activities in honor of great Mother Earth.

This coming Saturday, April 2nd join other families at the Sacramento Zoo for “Earth Fest”- a “party for the planet”. Enjoy crafts and activities, face painting, visit with environmental and conservation organizations. Kids can even celebrate with Jingga the tiger as he turns one this month!

On Thursday, April 21st from 9am-2pm, you can celebrate with Radio Disney at Cesar Chavez park (10th and J Street) in Downtown Sacramento. This is a FREE family fun event!

Saturday, April 23rd at 10am, Southside Park (2115 6th Street, Sacramento), you can enjoy food, live entertainment, music, crafts, wildlife presentations, hands-on activities for children (and adults), organic farmers, demonstrations and much more. This event is also free- and the park itself has enough to keep the kids entertained for the entire day.

So whatever you choose- there is plenty of family fun this month to help celebrate our wonderful Planet Earth.
