California Capital Airshow comes to Sacramento…and we have tickets to giveaway!

August 29, 2011

Are your kids (husbands or yourself) fascinated with the aeronautical wonders in the sky? Do you have future pilots zipping and zooming around the house? If so- then mark your calendars for the annual California Capital Airshow held at Mather Airfield on September 10th and 11th.

Kids of all ages will be amazed at the demonstrations, interactive exhibits and shows that are scheduled to appear this year. Some of the events that can be seen include the F-15 Strike Eagle Demonstration Team, world renowned aerobatic performers, military jet demonstrations, vintage aircraft…the list goes on and on!
You will also have the opportunity to get “up close and personal” with assorted aircrafts, enjoy live bands, jump houses for the kids, a Kids’ zone with educational exhibits and more.

The California Capital Air show is one of the largest and highly respected air shows in the nation, and we are very lucky to have it hosted in our Sacramento area. Located at the Mather Airport, it’s just 10 miles outside of downtown Sacramento. The show will run from 9am-5pm and admission can be purchased in advance or at the gates. If you purchase tickets online, the general admission prices for adults (13 and over) is $12, ages 6-12 is $5, 5 and under are free.

There is a $10 parking fee (CASH only) or you can purchase a prepaid parking pass on their website (if you are like me- I would buy the prepaid pass, since I never seem to have cash on hand!).

If you are planning on attending this exciting fun filled event- here are a few tips to keep in mind:

* Wear Comfortable Shoes… lots of walking and asphalt…forgo the desire to “look cute” and dress for comfort today!
* Don’t forget the sunscreen and umbrella to protect you from the sun.
* Bring CASH for parking and concession purchases (they will have ATM’s inside- but no one wants to pay the bank service fees).
* Bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to the noise…there will be LOTS of noise.
*Don’t forget your camera for those once in a lifetime shots of your little pilots “flying” through the air.

This is a great experience for kids and adults alike. Many memories will be made and your family will have a great time if you decide to attend.

And for a couple lucky readers- we will be giving away two pairs of general admission tickets so you can experience the excitement for yourself.
Please leave a comment as to why you would like to attend the air show. On Friday, September 2nd, we will randomly select 2 winners. Good Luck!

I’m an aspiring photographer and this would be an amazing opportunity to practice in an environment that combines high-tech engineering, high-speed performance and people experiencing new things up-close. I’d be happy to share the photos for use on your blog as well.

My son RuRu who will be turning 4 on Sept 2nd….every birthday is special for a couple reasons….he was born a (nearly 4-months too early) micro-premie weighing barely 2 pounds….today you would never know how much of a rough start he had as a newborn. I also received a call as a foster mommie to go to the hospital and pick him up 4 years ago, not only are we celebrating his 4th birthday we are celebrating the finalization of his adoption this month too….So lots too celebrate this month and be thankful for!

I love air planes and I have never been able to ever go to an airshow. Trains and Planes have always been something that keeps my attention no matter what, I would love to get to see planes up close.
