Now here’s a place I bet you have never thought of taking your kids for a day of fun -Sacramento’s Old City Cemetery. Well, it might not be a bad idea to consider doing just that this weekend. On Saturday, September 3rd the cemetery invites families and children for a special family friendly, even kid oriented, tour.
If you have ever been to the Old City Cemetery on Broadway, you know then that it is fascinating, quite beautiful and full of history. It is the final resting place of over 25,000 pioneers, immigrants and early California settlers including John Sutter, E. B. Crocker, Mark Hopkins (of railroad fame) and three of California governors.
Now your kids can enjoy the cemetery’s beauty and history as well. You are all invited to stop by for a FREE Family and Children’s Tour. Come at 10am (free parking across the street from the 10th Street gate) and enjoy a tour led by one of the cemetery’s docents as he or she leads you and the kiddos through the beautiful grounds and invites the children to explore the wildlife, uncover secrets from the past and learn a bit of history. This tour is specifically designed with children in mind…so gather up the fam for an experience they won’t soon forget.
