Labor Day has come and gone and the kids are back in school…it’s still pretty warm outside, but Fall is officially just around the corner. If you have lived in Sacramento for any period of time, you know that Sacramento in the Fall requires a trip to Apple Hill.
Apple Hill is a conglomorate of orchards, ranches and wineries located in the Sierra foothills in the town of Camino. One of the area’s most popular attractions, visitors will find apple orchards, pumpkin farms and harvest activities such as petting zoos and corn mazes. Come November and December Apple Hill is THE place to go if you want to cut down a real live christmas tree. For a map of the area, click here.
We love Apple Hill so much, that we are going to highlight some family friendly activities each month during the peek season: from now all the way through December.
Here’s what’s happening in September:
Celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s birthday on Sunday, September 18th. Here are some of the ranch activities specifically for kids:
Rainbow Orchards – Tour the cider mill and collect apple seeds with your tour guide Johnny Appleseed himself.
Grandpa’s Cellar – Enjoy an Orchard-Bingo Treasure Hunt.
Apple Ridge Farms – Free Johnny Appleseed coloring books for children 12 years and younger.
Apple Pantry Farm – Kids can make their very own Johnny Appleseed turnover from 11am to 3pm.
Pine O’Mine – Pick your own apple from the tree and decoupage your own apple pot.
Check back next month to find out what’s happening at Apple Hill in October. For a complete list of activities click here.
