The Reptile Show Slithers Into Sacramento And We Have Family Passes To Give Away!

By Alyssa Green

We know you are all in the throws of getting ready for Halloween, but you might want to set aside some of those plans in order to attend the annual Reptile Show at the Convention Center the weekend of October 29-30th.

Heading into it’s 14th year here in town, this event will have on display over 3000 (that’s right,  3000!) reptiles including more than 30 venomous snakes (new this year) and the popular 100 lb., 10 foot alligator Izod.

I suspect it will take a better part of the day to work your way through this event…especially if you have a child like mine who is fascinated by even the most common of reptiles.

In addition to all those snakes, lizards, turtles and alligators on display there will also be workshops informing guests about the world’s endangered frog population, teaching kids (and their parents) how to care for geckos and bearded dragons, and of course the popular “Wild Things” reptile encouter where eager boys and girls will learn all about amazing reptiles and Izod the Alligator.

Now, I feel the need to warn you that there will also be plenty of vendors on hand willing and eager to sell your family a new pet and everything you might ever need for that new pet.  If you aren’t in the market for say, a bearded dragon, I suggest you talk to you kids ahead of time and then stick to your guns when they beg and plead with you to bring a reptile home.  I wish you the best of luck…you are going to need it (as will I!)

Admission prices are $12 for those 13 years and older, $8 for 6-12 years, and FREE for children under 5 years of age.   2-day passes are also available.   Visit the website for a printable coupon for $1 off admission.

For more information on the schedule of events, click here.

The folks at Upscale Reptiles have generously given us (5) family admission packs (each pack admits up to 4 family members) to give away to our readers!   You know the drill, visit the Sac Reptile Show website, then come back here and leave a comment as to why you want the passes.  There is a bit of a catch this time…you must be a sacramentokids.net subscriber in order to be eligible to win.  It you are not already following us, it’s simple…just “subscribe” on our home page, then leave your comment.  Good luck!  We hope you win!

  1. I have a nephew who is crazy about reptiles. He lives in Concord, CA and we thought it would be great to share this experience with him. He’s a great kid and would love to learn about the reptiles and see different species. We’d make a family day out of it!

  2. I’m a single mom on a tight budget (very tight) and I don’t ever have extra money to spend on fun things for my daughter. She LOVES animals and really loves reptiles (go figure) I know she would love to be able to go see this show and all the creatures. It would be the first fun thing we could do as a family all year that wasn’t going to the park or walking to the store. Also her birthday is the 27th so this could be a gift to her to be able to go

  3. Our daughter loves reptiles and winning free tickets would mean she would finally get the opportunity to touch one. Eep! Thanks for the opportunity to try to win.

    • Tickets are for sale at the door, on days of the event. Don’t forget to print off your $1 off coupon and bring it with you. Have fun!

  4. What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails
That’s what little boys are made of !”
Well I have four of them and there’s more to boys than that. There’s curiosity of things that are creepy and crawling, things that feel strange to touch and and make strange hissing sounds. What a great adventure for a family to see asnd learn more about the world around us.

  5. I would love to win some passes! With six in our family (4 kids, 2 adults) we don’t get to go to too many things like this as it gets quite costly. My kids seem like reptiles sometimes and their bedrooms seem like a rats nest. (I guess rats are not reptiles, though..sorry). I would love to take them and show them what a real reptile looks/feels like!

    Thank you!

  6. Thank you for offering these passes. I would love to take my 4 year old daughter to the reptile show because she is fascinated by creatures. This would give her an great opportunity to see lots of animals she hasn’t seen before and give her a chance to ask lots of questions. I find the animals very interesting too. And even though my wife doesn’t, I think she would enjoy seeing the look of wonder on our daughter’s face as she discovers many of these creatures for the first time. Thank you again, for making these available to the readers of your blog.

  7. I would love to win a couple free passes for my grandson. He has worked so very hard in school and is thriving in football. He has a strong compassion for animals and nature. He is a great kid and I am sure he too would appreciate this opportunity to learn more about reptiles. Doesn’t every boy?

  8. We would love a set of free passes to the reptile show! At two separate occasions this past year we had two turtles ‘adopt us’ when we found them in our pool! Although we thought we had all the supplies necessary to keep a turtle as a pet, they both died several weeks after being put into their new home. We loved having them and were sad that we ended up being ‘bad turtle caretakers’. 😦 We have the supplies and would love to find another critter to enjoy them and we want to find out what supplies we lack in order to give them the most ideal living arrangements so they can live and long and healthy life!

  9. I would love a set of free passes, we just moved to the area. I have three boys, a 15 years old with austic, its really hard to find things he likes to do , but I know that he loves lizards and others reptiles. This would be a great events to get him out of the house. My other son is 12 and just loves doing reptiles, My youngest is 8 , He loves anything that the whole family does together. What more fun could they want a family outing with lizards and other boys stuff lol…
