40th Anniversary Amtrak Train Exhibit Visits Sacramento

By Alyssa Green

Amtrak is celebrating 40 years of service by taking a special anniversary train exhibit on the road through the Pacific Northwest and California.  This weekend, the exhibit rolls into Sacramento for a two day stay at the California State Railroad Museum.  Make your way down to Old Sacramento on November 5 and 6th, between 10am and 4pm for a FREE tour of this commemorative Amtrak train.

The exhibit, located just outside the Railroad Museum, will showcase Amtrak’s 40 year history in the form of photos, uniforms, dinnerware and other memorabilia.  Commemorative merchandise will be for sale on board, including a book and documentary DVD chronicling each decade of Amtrak’s service.

For the kiddos, there will be a special “Chugginton Depot” play area with plenty of train-themed activities, as well as viewings of the hit television show.  Did I mention this is all FREE?

Visitors who venture inside the Railroad Museum (not free) on November 5th will have the opportunity to view the the 40th Anniversary film,  Amtrak: The First 40 Years, included with museum admission.

So, if you are looking for something to do this weekend, this is the perfect family activity that everyone will enjoy.
