6/8 – World Oceans Day at the Sacramento Zoo – The Sacramento Zoo is joining hundreds of educational institutions and thousands of individuals around the world in celebrating World Oceans Day. It is an opportunity to celebrate the oceans’ wide array of wonders and resources, and consider ways that each of us can help with ocean conservation. The day will include activities, information booths, and a special ocean themed story time at 2:30pm in the amphitheater.
6/9 – Raptors Up Close at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Meet one of the resident birds of prey under the care of the Effie Yeaw Nature Center and join them as they search the sky for visiting raptors. You may want to bring your binoculars (or borrow some from the Center).
Pirate theme so bring the kids (and adults) in costume, great band, food, venders, jump houses for the kids, Pirate-tronics like at Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean and of course those great raffle prizes.
6/9 – A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Crystal Ice Cream Fantasy – Fairytale Town’s popular fairy-themed fundraiser and ice cream social features nonstop entertainment for the whole family, including costumed performers, fanciful arts & crafts activities, an old-time marketplace, food, and all the Crystal Ice Cream one can eat.
6/9-10 – 30th Annual Croatian Extravaganza – The Croatian Extravaganza is a huge, family-style picnic that celebrates the rich heritage and traditions of Croatia and its people.
This “European Festival in the Old World Tradition” features homemade food – including delicate pastries and succulent, spit-roasted lamb and pork, chicken, steak and sausages – wine, beer, Croatian music & dancing, bocce ball tournament, children’s play area, folk art, and other traditions of this European/Mediterranean country’s rich heritage.
6/10 – River Walk at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Celebrate the beauty of nature with a guided walk through the Nature Preserve and down to the American River. You may want to bring your binoculars (or borrow some from us). All ages welcome.
6/9 – Pops in the Park at Glen Hall Park – Councilman Steve Cohn and the Pops in the Park Committee are pleased to present the annual Pops in the Park summer concert series, featuring Chris Gardner Band at Glenn Hall Park. Food and beverages will be for sale, and all proceeds benefit neighborhood and park improvements.
Five incredible musicians whose talents excel alone but thrive together are taking huge steps towards flourishing careers in country music. Come see them play together as the Chris Gardner Band.
6/9 – Drop, Yak, Splat at the Crocker Art Museum – Each month, a different work of art provides the inspiration for a memorable art-making activity or gallery-based sketching for families with children ages five to 12. Families are welcome to drop in anytime during the program. Free with Museum admission.
