Free Fishing Days in California

By Heather Crivellone

Living here in Sacramento we are surrounded by water… rivers, lakes, streams, and ponds.  It’s a great way to spend an afternoon just relaxing and  watching nature “float by”.  A great way to enjoy the water with kids is to take them fishing… and what kid doesn’t enjoy searching for worms to bait their hooks?
And if you are not a “true fisherman”, you can find that buying a fishing license for a day out can be expensive.
However, there are 2 days a year that California offers “Free Fishing Days”,  July 7th and September 8th.

So go ahead and pack up some bait, dust off those poles and take your kids out to the river to catch some dinner.  Steelhead, Sturgeon, Salmon…. I’m sure it’s going to be a great day out on the water.
