Are your kids (husbands or yourself) fascinated with the aeronautical wonders in the sky? Do you have future pilots zipping and zooming around the house? If so- then mark your calendars for the annual California Capital Airshow held at Mather Airfield on September 8th and 9th.
Kids of all ages will be amazed at the demonstrations, interactive exhibits and shows that are scheduled to appear this year. Some of the events that can be seen include the United States Air Force Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team, world-renowned aerobatic performers, warbirds, vintage aircraft and an endless variety of interactive displays…the list goes on and on!
You will also have the opportunity to get “up close and personal” with assorted aircrafts, enjoy jump houses for the kids, a Kids’ zone with educational exhibits and more.
The California Capital Air show is one of the largest and highly respected air shows in the nation, and we are very lucky to have it hosted in our Sacramento area. “This two-day event honors the courage and sacrifice of our veterans, as well the men and women who currently serve our great nation while inspiring the next generation to achieve greatness.”
Located at the Mather Airport, it’s just 10 miles outside of downtown Sacramento. The show will run from 9am-5pm and admission can be purchased in advance or at the gates. If you purchase tickets online, the general admission prices for adults (13 and over) is $15, ages 6-12 is $7.50, children 5 and under are free.
There is a $10 parking fee (CASH only) or you can purchase a prepaid parking pass on their website (if you are like me- I would buy the prepaid pass, since I never seem to have cash on hand!).
If you are planning on attending this exciting fun filled event- here are a few tips to keep in mind:
* Wear Comfortable Shoes… lots of walking and asphalt…forgo the desire to “look cute” and dress for comfort today!
* Don’t forget the sunscreen and umbrella to protect you from the sun.
* Bring CASH for parking and concession purchases (they will have ATM’s inside- but no one wants to pay the bank service fees).
* Bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to the noise…there will be LOTS of noise.
*Don’t forget your camera for those once in a lifetime shots of your little pilots “flying” through the air.
This is a great experience for kids and adults alike. Many memories will be made and your family will have a great time if you decide to attend.
