Win Tickets to the Golden State Street Rod Nationals Plus

October 2, 2012

Did you know that today, October 2nd,  is national “name your car day?”  With the Golden State Street Rod Nationals Plus coming to Cal Expo this weekend, we wanted to give our readers an opportunity to win two admission tickets to the event.   If you have ever named your car, we want to know.  Leave a comment telling us what you named your car, and why.  We’ll choose one lucky car owner (plus a guest) on Thursday, October 4th, 2012 to attend the event for free.  Good luck!

When we were moving from NY State we rented a big yellow Ryder moving van so on our CB radios we were Big Bird and the old blue station wagon we called The Blue Goose.

We bought “The Mason Mobile”, a VW van in 1981 when we had 4 kids and it had 7 seats. We had 2 more kids for a total of 6, so it was a tight fit. We named the van the Mason Mobile because we were always on the go to visit Grandma Mason in Missouri, Grandma Avis and blackberry picking out of it in Oregon, Grandma Leona in Utah, and other various vacations. For years The Mason Mobile carried kids to football, baseball, basketball games, dance lessons, music lessons, school, church and mom to work
. The kids friends loved it and often asked for rides home in the Mason Mobile. We replaced the engine and drove it for years. Many memorable moments were discovered in our Mason Mobile. We still miss it!

My brother, sister and I shared a 1/2 ton white pick up in the late 70’s. I called it the “The Great White Pig” because it always seemed to need gas. I miss that truck.
