Disney on Ice “Dare to Dream”- a memorable experience for the whole family!
By Heather Crivellone
Last night, Disney on Ice came back to Sacramento with their newest spectacular “Dare to Dream”. Showing February 13th- 18th, this is an opportunity not to be missed…and especially if you have your own little princesses who love everything Disney!
I had the opportunity to take my 5-year-old on a special “mommy-daughter” date for Valentines Day. She was beyond thrilled when I told her where we were going…and even more so when I allowed her to wear her “Super-Fancy, Rapunzel dress” to the show!
“Dare to Dream” is absolutely perfect for little girls because it is all about PRINCESSES…and what little girl doesn’t love princesses?? Now, if you are wondering about whether or not to take your little boys- the answer is YES! Because even though it is about princesses, they still have the brave Princes, evil witches, silly animals, daring and fast acrobatic type stunts and even fireworks to amaze the crowd…this show may be “princessey” but it is exciting and fun for all!
The amazing skaters followed the story lines from three beloved Disney princesses and the big dreams they each had.
Starting with Princess Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog”, we are immediately transported into the heart of New Orleans. The ingenious set designs will later rotate and morph into the familiar Disney Cinderella Castle and then again into Rapunzels tower. As with anything Disney- the design and engineering into their sets will amaze and literally transport your imaginations into another world!
The story lines are shortened versions of the classic tales of “Princess and the Frog”, “Cinderella” and “Tangled”. Giving about 30 minutes for the plot, memorable songs from each movie and of course showing how each princess eventually makes their dreams come true.
With all things Disney- you can expect to see unbelievable skating, gorgeous and colorful costumes, fantastic set designs and be completely in awe by some of the stunts.
My favorite of the evening was watching Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder as they literally “fly through the air” during an impressive aerial acrobatic scene.
My daughter loved watching the fairy godmother transform Cinderella from the “homely maid” into a “beautiful princess” all while singing “Bippity, Boppity, Boo…”
And of course watching Tiana and Prince Naveen as they become frogs, fall in love and come back to open her dream restaurant…it was all just amazing!
Now, don’t be discouraged if your favorite Disney princess isn’t among one of these 3. All of the princesses come together at the end for the grand finale ball… and they are all there: Belle, Aurora, Jasmine and Snow White to name a few. And of course it wouldn’t be a Disney production without the appearances of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. They all show up throughout the night to make the event that much more magical.
So if you are ready to be amazed with all things Disney.. and put a smile on your little princesses (or princes) face, then make sure you don’t miss out on this production of Disney on Ice while it’s here in Sacramento. Again, it’s showing through February 18th at the Sleep Train Arena and you can purchase tickets online or at the box office.
