3/1-3/3 – Annie Jr. at the 24th Street Theater – Young Actors Stage presents the family classic Annie Jr. based on the popular and award winning Broadway musical. Spunky, depression-era orphan, Annie is determined to find her parents and sings and dances her way to our hearts. From the New York City orphanage run by Miss Hannigan, to the mansion of billionaire Oliver Warbucks, you’ll see Sacramento kids performing classic favorites, “Tomorrow,” “Hard Knock Life,” and “Little Girls.” This family-friendly favorite is perfect for all ages.
3/2 – Sacramento Undy 5000 5k Walk/Run – Grab the kids and grab the dog, but leave your pants at home. Run in your underwear while raising awareness of colon cancer. Instead of race day T-shirts, all registered participants receive a commemorative pair of Undy 5000 boxers. It is a family-friendly event open to all ages. There is also a one-mile fun run. A giant, walk-through inflatable colon will make its appearance at the event!
3/2 – Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Celebration at the Old Schoolhouse Museum – Visitors to the Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum can celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with fun (and free) activities all afternoon. In addition to copies of many of Dr.Seuss’ children books that will be on-hand for reading, informative political editorial cartoons about World War II will be available along with a visually compelling “The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss” art book for perusal. Plus, kids will have the opportunity to try on a fun “cat’s hat”!
3/2 – Dr. Seuss’ Birthday at Fairytale Town – Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” There was no one quite like Dr. Seuss! Join Fairytale Town and celebrate Theodore Seuss Geisel’s birthday with Seuss-themed hands on activities
and crafts. Stop by the Mother Goose Stage and join for a unique nonstop reading of your favorite colorful, tongue-twisting, rhyming Seuss books. “If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.”
3/2 – Happy Heart, Healthy Eating at the Sacramento Children’s Museum – Activities will include an exercise class, place mat art project, an “Easy Ways to Stay Healthy” presentation, and a take-home spring vegetable planting activity. Shoki Ramen house will be hosting a cooking demonstration, showing children and adults how to make a delicious and healthy Japanese-style meal. Members of Girl Scout Troop 2153 from Arden Park in Sacramento will be hosting several healthy eating-related activities as well, including a puppet show. This event is supported by a grant from the Newman’s Own Foundation.
3/2 – Family Activity: Ssssssnakes at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Where do these scaly creatures go when the sun does not shine? Learn about the life of a snake and get a chance to meet one of these cold-blooded critters up close.
3/2-3 – Seuss, Science and Space at the Discovery Museum – Dr. Seuss is on the loose at the Discovery Museum. Visit with our friend, the Cat in the Hat, for a photo opportunity you can’t pass up. He is appearing in the Family Feature. Share the stories of Dr. Seuss with your children by bringing them in for story times taking place throughout the day. A themed craft will also be provided for children to make and take home.
3/2 – Live Roller Derby: Roseville Trainwreckers vs. Midtown Maulies -Sacred City Derby Girls present: OUCH! See The Roseville TrainWreckers vs. Midtown Maulies in this evening of live roller derby! Sacred’s TrainWreckers are currently undefeated and the 2012 Home Team Champions, but Sacred’s Maulies are clawing their way to the top. Don’t miss out on all the hard hitting action! Home Teams are comprised of an even mix of skaters drafted from Sacred’s All-Star Team (Sacrificers), B-Travel Team (Disciples), and currently unrostered skaters.
3/3 – King’s Basketball – Don’t miss this exciting game as the Sacramento Kings take on the Charlotte Bobcats at the Sleep Train Arena.
3/3 – Family Activity: Children’s Storytime at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Welcome Spring with a story from guest story teller Julian Jefferson. Recommended for children or those young at heart.
3/4 – Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! Get the Sillies Out! – Is your family ready to get the sillies out? Yo Gabba Gabba!
