Weekend Family Fun

Movies in the Park, music in the park, Sesame Street Live at Sleep Train Arena, even a campout at Fairytale Town!  There is so much to do this weekend.  Hope you have a good one!

family_bike_nights_logo_safetyville_category6/20-6/21 – Family Bike Night at Safetyville, USA – Families attending will enjoy bike riding in an enclosed safe riding area, food court selling hot dogs, sodas, and other snacks, a special designated area for the young riders, bike safety clinic, and local area bike vendors on hand for bike assistance and questions. This event also features CHP involvement and presentation.

$4fridays_category6/21 – $4 Friday Night at the Sacramento Children’s Museum – Celebrate summer inside and outside the Sacramento Children’s Museum during the first “$4 Friday night” event happening this summer. Come and enjoy with live music by The Hoots, food trucks by FoodMob, Big Spoon Yogurt, face painting, eye-catching classic cars provided by the California Automobile Museum, and other fun activities.

logo_category6/21 – Movies in the Park: Angels in the Outfield – Come out early to get a good seat and let your kids experience the Wonderful Outdoor World (W.O.W.) bus before the movie begins.  Concessions (hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and ice cream) will be available for purchase from the Fair Oaks Host Lions Club and Fair Oaks Youth Advisory Board (FOYAB).  The movie screened tonight will be Angels in the Outfield.

campout_category6/21 – Family Campout at Fairytale Town – Spend the night at Humpty Dumpty’s house. This exciting overnight adventure includes a theatre performance, arts and crafts activities, a scavenger hunt, bedtime stories, and a sing-along. Wake up the next morning under Fairytale Town’s canopy of trees to a light continental breakfast.

wizardofozbanner_category6/21 – 6/30 – Wizard of Oz – Join Dorothy, Toto, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion as they band together on an adventure along the Yellow Brick Road to Oz and face the wrath of the Wicked Witch. The production will be true to the movie that has enchanted fans
of all ages for decades featuring the songs “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” “Over the Rainbow,” and “Follow the Yellow Brick Road.”

smurfs_movie_category6/22 – Macy’s Great American Drive-In – Coast-to-coast, bumper to bumper, join Macy’s as they continue their American Icons celebration with movie night at authentic drive-in and pop-up drive-in locations across the country. The fun begins with carnival games, top tunes, yummy treats, and more.  Bring your camera for a snapshot with your favorite Smurf character. At dusk, enjoy a free screening of the family blockbuster hit, The Smurfs™ and a sneak peek of The Smurfs 2™ in theatres July 31!

pops_2013_category6/22 – Pops in the Park: Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers  – Pops in the Park is a series of free evening concerts that raises money for under-funded neighborhood parks. Sponsorship and advertising dollars, as well as proceeds from the sale of food and beverages at the events, have been used since 1995 to fund the events, enhance neighborhood parks, bring improvements to the neighborhood, and provide youth athletic scholarships.

6/22  – Nature Tales at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Members of the Sacramento Storytellers Guild will share their entertaining tales of animals and nature.  Admission is free.

dingerrivercats_category6/22 & 6/23  – River Cats vs. Colorado Springs Sky Sox – Come out to enjoy a great game of baseball as the Sacramento River Cats take on the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. The River Cats are commemorating the 1,000th game ever played at Raley Field with A “Grand” Celebration. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will be invited down to the field post game to watch fireworks in the outfield!

sesamestreetlive_category6/22 & 6/23 – Sesame Street: Can’t Stop Singing – Come and play before the show! Play Zone at Sesame Street Live is a fun way for children to experience their favorite street. Imagine your child sitting in Big Bird’s nest, popping up in Oscar’s trash can, twirling in Zoe’s dance studio, or visiting Elmo’s World. You never know who’ll make an appearance. Families won’t want to miss a single picture-perfect moment. Play Zone opens one hour before the show and is free with your Sesame Street Live ticket.
