If you have been following this blog for a while (or are a Sacramento native), then you know that one of Sacramento’s most favorite and cherished places to spend time with children is at Fairytale Town.
A park dedicated to promote imagination, creativity and education for children. This park was established in 1959 specifically for toddlers and little feet to run around and play through great nursery rhyme themed structures. Stories and the Old Mother Goose rhymes literally come to life at this 2.5 acre play park.
The kids can explore old nursery rhyme favorites while speeding down slides, climbing through tunnels and balancing along the “Crooked Mile”. Kids can enjoy viewing animals from the “Three Little Pig”, “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and more. Our families favorite area is Mr. McGregors Garden where the kids can help water the vegetable plants (and each other on these hot days!) You can spend the entire day exploring and playing with your kids at this park and enjoying the sounds of little giggles as they listen to the stories come to life.
Fairytale Town is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are always greatly accepted. On Thursday, October 3 you can enjoy a day swinging you gold clubs on the green at the Fairytale Town Classic Golf Tournament starting at 1pm. The 18- hole tournament will take place at Teal Bend Golf Course in Sacramento. Proceeds support education programs and park improvements at Fairytale Town.
A buffet dinner, raffle, live auction and awards presentation will follow the tournament. The winning foursome will be awarded the Humpty Dumpty trophy. Awards are also given for longest drive and closest to the pin. The hole-in-one prize is a 2014 Ford Fusion, provided by Downtown Ford Sales. Raffle and auction prizes include foursomes at prestigious courses, massage gift certificates, restaurant gift certificates, bottles of wine, and more.
Foursomes are available for $750, and single players are $200 each. Hole sponsorships beginning at $1,000 are also available. All golfers receive a tee-bag, golf shirt, lunch and ticket to the awards dinner. Register for the tournament online at http://www.fairytaletown.org or in person at the Fairytale Town box office.
This event is obviously for the “older” child in us “grown ups”, but the money raised will go back to support the children of our community and the wonderful events that this organization puts on.
