10/5 – Meet Cinderella – The Sacramento Ballet will partner with Fairytale Town to celebrate one of the world’s most beloved fairytales– Cinderella. Have fun making arts and crafts, and listen to a Cinderella Story book reading by Cinderella herself. Also, take advantage of this opportunity to take photos with the cast of Cinderella.
10/5 – Sacramento Aloha Festival – Bring the entire family down to celebrate a day of cultural fun with the annual Aloha Festival. This event will feature educational exhibits, workshops, speakers and presentations, health and community awareness exhibits, cultural village, Keiki Korner with arts & crafts and educational information, merchandise and food vendors, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander entertainment, art exhibit, and more.

10/5 – 10/6 – Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival – CSD organizers are planning to whisk guests away to the mystical land of Oz for the 19th Annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival. Staff and participating businesses have begun planning for a weekend filled with pumpkins and scarecrows and fun…oh my! Weighing in at nearly one ton, some of the state’s biggest pumpkins grace the festival scales. There will be a race between pumpkin boats across Strauss Lake. The paddles will be poised for the 7th annual showdown. Magical activities abound at the Festival, for kids can explore two children’s areas with carnival games, a pumpkin patch, inflatable attractions, hay maze and more. Fashion an entry honoring your favorite OZ inhabitants in the festival’s scarecrow contest and you could earn more than just sparkly slippers. Festival sponsors, vendors and volunteers help make the festival a magical experience every year.
10/5 – 10/6 – 8th Annual California Capital Airshow – The 8th Annual California Capital Airshow will be roaring across the skies of our region again this year. The event will offer spine-tingling performances
including an international jet team, military demonstrations, world-class aerobatics, wingsuit flyers, barnstorming, wing walking, and endless entertainment and displays along the ramp. Nearly all never before seen in the Sacramento region. Arrive early to explore aircraft displays, interactive exhibits, and the Kids Zone.
10/5 – 10/6 – Owl Prowl – Whooo’s ready for a fun weekend kicking off the Halloween season? Meet the Museum’s two owls, Tucker (the Great Horned Owl) and Milo (the Western Screech Owl). Check out some other species by seeing the preserved owls in our Nature Discovery Room. Visitors ages 12 and under make a paper Screech Owl nest to take home as a souvenir
10/6 – Princess Promenade Bike Festival – Finally: a fun ride to enjoy with your mom, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, or that reluctant friend who won’t realize this is exercise! Returning to cycling?
Ride with no cars along the beautiful, scenic American River. Veteran cyclists, challenge yourself to the Princess Metric Century and optional Time Trial 3-mile climb to Beal’s Point as part of the course.
10/6 – Nature Fest 2013 at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Spend a day celebrating Nature. See Birds of Prey and enjoy guided nature hikes, demonstrations, kids activities and live animal shows from wild things. Proceeds benefit the Effie Yeaw Nature Center and its education programs.
