Earth Day is April 22- there are fun filled events to teach our children the importance of “Mother Earth”
“Each year, Earth Day- April 22, marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.” Today, millions of people worldwide come together to celebrate Earth Day and show support for environmental protection. Throughout the month of April, you can find events around Sacramento to help support and “do your part” in celebrating our precious Earth. And what a wonderful gift to give your children, but a better understanding of how we each take a part in protecting and preserving our planet!
This Saturday, April 19 is the 8th Annual Sacramento Earth Day Festival at Southside Park from 11am-4pm. There will be over 100 tables and vendors on site with practical information for saving money, living healthier and protecting the environment! With entertainment, live music and food vendors all at one of the most popular Sacramento parks… this is an event not to miss!
West Sacramento will also host an Earth Day/ Spring Festival on Saturday, April 19th. From 10am-2pm at the West Sacramento Civic Center Galleria, families can learn about the importance of “going green” and have some “spring time” fun too.
Sacramento Children’s Museum in Rancho Cordova (2701 Prospect Park) will also be hosting an event for the kids to have an opportunity to learn Earth-friendly lessons through interactive activities on Tuesday, April 22. There will be free activities outside from 11 am to 2 pm, and free admission for children all day inside!
This is a great way to start getting your children involved in helping to make a difference in our world and I hope each and every one of you will take a part in one of these activities or any of the other activities that may be happening in your community during this month.
