May the Fourth Be With You Sacramento

5/3 – Critter Corner at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Have you ever wondered where our animals come from and why they are here? Come nose to nose with a few of the Center’s resident animals, hear their story and learn all about what makes them unique.

5/3 – Where the Wild Kids Are – Explore the Sacramento Zoo during a day of kid-centered cultural entertainment, art, music and dance. Local museums, historical societies, genealogy groups, plus arts and crafts for great family fun.

5/3 – Wildflower Wonders – This year’s Wildflower Wonders will be a showcase of native plants in their natural habitats of the greater Sacramento region. There will be a native plant sale and exhibit, a discover zone for kids, monarch butterfly way stations, ethnobotany stations, microscope fun, an art table, and much more!

5/3 – 5/4 – May the Fourth Be With You Festival – This out-of-this-world, community-run convention is a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the City of West Sacramento Dept. of Parks & Recreation’s children’s programs, and other local not-for-profit community organizations. Festivities include vendors, artists, exhibits, costume characters, a costume parade, art, contests, comedy by Critical Hit Geek Comedy Troupe and Retrocrush, and live entertainment (including light saber battles)!

5/3 – 5/4 – Civil War Days at Gibson Ranch – Gibson Ranch Regional Park is hosting its annual Civil War Days Experience. This unique exhibition is a great opportunity for students and families to get a “hands on” introduction to how life was in the 1860s. Through re-enactors, visitors can get a slice of camp and village life and see actual skirmishes between Union and Confederate forces. Guests can also enjoy parades, and participate in photo ops with General Robert E. Lee and President Lincoln, and more!

5/4 – Wonder Lab at the Crocker Art Museum – This creative gathering, open to all, is designed to spark playful experimentation! Children with learning and developmental disabilities and their families are especially invited to enjoy inclusive and individualized art-making activities. This session of Wonder Lab is presented in collaboration with the Short Center South and the Crocker Art Museum’s Art Access Committee.

5/4 – River Stroll at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – Follow a Naturalist for an afternoon stroll along the river. See what changes are happening along the American River as our area approaches the Summer season.

5/4 – Mission 2 Space Lego Robotic Adventure – Join on a space mission as you build incredible robotic structures like the Shuttle, Launch Pad, and the International Space Station

5/4 – Banners n Bling 64th Annual Opening Day Boat Parade – The Sacramento Yacht Club will host the 64th Annual Opening Day Boat Parade on the Sacramento River. Watch the parade, featuring yachts decorated with this year’s theme of “Banners ‘n Bling!”  The parade will proceed up river through Old Sacramento and turn around at the Virgin Sturgeon restaurant. The parade can be viewed anywhere along the Sacramento River, with the best vantage points at Old Sacramento and the West Sacramento River Walk Park
