The Sacramento Sports Commission, in partnership with the Amgen Tour of California and Sutter Health, is hosting a FREE community bike ride during the Amgen race on Sunday, May 11 in Downtown Sacramento. Riders from the Sacramento community will have the opportunity to ride a portion of the official Amgen route, around the State Capitol building, at 1:30 p.m.
The official Amgen Community Ride is also supported by the May is Bike Month campaign. The May is Bike Month campaign is an annual, month-long campaign in the Sacramento Region that promotes bicycling to improve air quality, reduce congestion, and increase good health and exercise. Register online to log miles, win prizes, and participate in events at www.mayisbikemonth.com.
Local residents are also encouraged to join the Sacramento region in celebrating this year’s 10th Annual May is Bike Month by pledging and logging miles at MayisBikeMonth.com. All bike miles count (trips to work, school, shopping, dining or for recreation). Throughout the month, there will be a wide variety of bike events; weekly prize drawings; individual, group and employer challenges; rallies; awards; safety clinics and organized rides. Visit MayisBikeMonth.com for more information.
To join the official Amgen Community Ride presented by Sutter Health, meet on 13th and L Streets in Downtown Sacramento between 1:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. If you have other questions contact Lisa Nottingham at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.sacsports.com.
