5/10 – 7th Annual National Train Day – To celebrate the seventh annual National Train Day, the California Railroad Museum will offer a spectacular array of eye-catching locomotives along with a variety of hands-on activities, live entertainment, educational booths and a special presentation that collectively demonstrate the past, present and future of railroading.
5/10 – Meet the Machines – Children of all ages have the opportunity to touch, climb on and explore 30 different types of exciting machines and unique vehicles. The event will also feature other activities such as a Segway Polo game, bounce houses, games, face painting, music and food. Just added, Brainy Zoo Toys will let the little ones test out some of their new toys.
5/10 – 5/11 – 23rd Annual Placer County Berry Festival – What makes a happy mom on Mother’s Day? A happy family! Enjoy a pancake breakfast, hosted by local boy scouts, a Kid’s Zone, carnival rides, a petting zoo, a Little Miss Strawberry Pageant, A Strawberry Classic Car Cruise, over 100 arts and craft vendors — and, of course — strawberry eats and treats for all! The Strawberry Kitchen will host strawberry kitchen demos with Chef Michael Marks all weekend long and the very popular strawberry shortcake eating contest.
5/10 – 5/11 – Marvelous Mother’s Day Weekend – The Sacramento Children’s Museum think moms are simply the best! That’s why they are offering free admission for all moms — just their way of saying ‘thank you!’ for all that you do. They will also have special Mother’s Day activities in the Art Studio.
5/10 – 5/11 – Sacramento River Cats vs. Salt Lake Bees – Buy mom a Sacramento River Cats Mother’s Day brunch package including 1 Senate seat for the Sacramento River Cats vs. Salt Lake Bees at 1:05 p.m., and 1 Pregame brunch starting at 11:30 a.m. including scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and green onions, smoked bacon and black forest ham steak, home fried potatoes with red onion and fresh herbs, assorted pastries and muffins, sliced seasonal fresh fruit with yogurt, assorted juices, coffee, and hot tea – 1 lucky mother will be chosen to throw out the first pitch!
5/11 – Mission Orangutan Mother’s Day Book & Bake Sale – Buy some delicious palm oil-free baked goods, a good book, and learn about how orangutans are excellent mothers. Purses for Primates will be at the front of the zoo selling gently used purses. All proceeds go to support Orangutan Outreach Missing Orangutan Mothers (MOM), an organization that aids orphaned orangutans in the wild.
5/11 – Amgen Tour of California – The Capital City region will kick-off the Amgen Tour of California once again! There are two chances for spectators to watch the cycling action: Sacramento for the Official Start and in the City of Folsom for the Stage 2 time trial. Riders from the Sacramento community will have the opportunity to ride a portion of the official Amgen route. The ride will begin at the Amgen starting line at 1:30 p.m. and be approximately 30 minutes.
5/11 – Mother’s Day River Cruise – This Mother’s Day, treat you mom to a narrated, one-hour cruise on the Sacramento River. You’ll learn about Old Sacramento’s most famous sites and hear stories about Sacramento’s history, from John Sutter to the wild first days of the Gold Rush and the Pony Express. This is truly a Mother’s Day gift idea to remember!
