The weather in Sacramento is going to be perfect this weekend, so make sure you head outside to enjoy one of many outdoor activities and events. How about a train ride along the river? 4/11 – 4/12 – Excursion Train Rides along the River – hop on board the Sacramento Southern Railroad for a picturesque train ride along the Sacramento River. Trains run every hour, on the hour, between 11am and 4 pm, weather permitting.
4/11 – 4/12 – Festival for Kids at Cal Expo – bring the kids out to Cal Expo this weekend to for some great family events and activities. Kids will have the opportunity to take pictures with their favorite cartoon characters like Spongebob or Dora the Explorer. Learn about sporting activities, meet with law enforcement and learn what to do in emergencies, be entertained by jugglers, magicians and animals. You won’t want to miss out on this great event!
4/11 – 4/12 – Yuri’s Weekend at the Discovery Museum – join in on the international celebration of the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin. Learn all about Yuri, make a Yuri finger puppet, and pretend to be astronauts in the space rocket play area.
4/11 – Art Blast at the Crocker Art Museum – bring your kids, ages 7 to 12, to the Crocker for their monthly activity meant to inspire children to be creative and produce a memorable work of art. Drop in any time between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.
4/11 – Bufferlands Birds and Blooms Tour – come on out to the Fishhead Lake Mitigation Wetlands for a free tour of the resident waterfowl, songbirds, raptors and wildflowers. Visitors will receive a packet of native wildflower seeds.
4/11 – Arcade Creek Exploration – follow along with biologists as they guide visitors through the creek and explore the wildlife that live there. Help collect live animals from the Arcade Creek and Del Paso Regional Park and learn to identify them using scientific tools.
4/11 – Squeaky Clean Comedy – this improv show is perfect for people of all ages. Filled with spontaneity, quick wit and humor, this interactive night of laughs shows that you don’t need to use profanity to be funny.
4/12 – Living in Water at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center – celebrate Creek Week by using catch and release activities to get a close-up look at some local pond animals. You’ll learn about the variety of water insects hidden in our local waterways.
4/12 – Sunday Funday with the Sacramento River Cats – Watch as Sacramento’s favorite baseball team, the River Cats take on the Salt Lake Bees on this Sunday Funday at Raley Field. Face painters and balloon artists will be available pre-game, while kids will have the opportunity to run the bases after the game.
