Earth Day on April 22 is a day when millions of people worldwide come together and show support for environmental protection. This date marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Throughout the month of April, you can find events around Sacramento to help support and “do your part” in celebrating our precious Earth. And what a wonderful gift to give your children, but a better understanding of how we each take a part in protecting and preserving our planet!
This Saturday, April 19, is the Annual Sacramento Earth Day Festival at Southside Park from 11am-4pm. There will be over 180 exhibitors on site with practical information for saving money, living healthier and protecting the environment! With entertainment, live music and food vendors all at one of the most popular Sacramento parks…this is an event not to be missed.
West Sacramento will also host an Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 25. From 10am-2pm at the West Sacramento Civic Center Galleria, families can learn about the importance of “going green” while enjoying live music, activities for kids, local food vendors and more!
Sacramento Children’s Museum in Rancho Cordova (2701 Prospect Park) will also be hosting an event for the kids to have an opportunity to learn Earth-friendly lessons through interactive activities on April 22. There will be free activities outside from 11 am to 1 pm, and free admission for children all day inside!
This is a great way to get your children involved in helping to make a difference in our world and I hope each and every one of you will take a part in one of these activities or any of the other activities that may be happening in your community during this month.
