Summer Day Camps for Kids in Sacramento

Looking for ideas on how to keep your kiddos out of trouble and off their electronics this summer? Sacramento and its surrounding cities offer a number of summer day camp options for kids of all ages and interests. From acting and art classes to science-centered learning camps to programs focusing on fun and games, Sacramento museums, venues and businesses have you covered. Take a look at this list of summer camps available to kids as young as five and as old as 17 years. Here are some of our favorites programs:

  1. Capitol City ACE Academy at the California Aerospace Museum. This camp is offered for just one week this summer – June 18-22, and costs only $100. Kids ages 13 to 18 will have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of aviation careers, meet aviation professionals, take field trips to airports and other aviation-related sites, pilot an aircraft in a flight simulator and  finally, take an orientation flight in a single engine aircraft!
  2. Fire Camp. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District – Metro Fire – hosts a camp for only $100 for the week. Firefighter turn into camp counselors as they teach kids about the fire fighting as a career in a fun, competitive, yet safe environment.
  3. Summer Day Camp at Soil Born Farms. Youth in grades k through 12 will spend the week learning about the American River Ranch and connecting to their food, their health and the environment. Participants will explore farm, field and forest environments at a variety of different day camp options. Cost is $275 for one week.
  4. Summer Camp at Young Chefs Academy. Young Chefs Academy teaches kids not only how to cook, but how to do it safely while having fun. Includes field trips and special guests. Cost is $375 for a one-week session.
  5. California Time Traveler Camp at the California Museum. The California Museum takes your child back in time as it explores the history of the state in a fun, adventurous way. Includes field trips and hands-on activities. Cost is $225 for a one-week session.
  6. Youth Camps at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center. A variety of camps are offered for kids ranging in age from 7 to 17 including wind surfing, kayaking, waterskiing, and more. Cost is $345 for one week.
  7. Summer Fun Camps at Fairytale Town. I deal for younger children, Fairytale Town offers camps for every interest. From theater, to science to gardening, your child will have a blast spending their days at the park. Cost is $145 for half day, one-week session and $340 for full day, one-week session.
  8. Summer Camp at Star Eco Station. A great outdoor learning experience, campers at the Star Eco Station will experience four rotations that focus on animal care, feeding and cleaning, creative art projects and hands-on learning.
  9. History Camps at the Sacramento History Museum. Old Sacramento History camps offer kids a fun and safe environment to learn about Sacramento’s past. Campers will go on field trips to museums, enjoy arts and crafts and spend some time in outdoor activities. What could be better than spending a whole week in Old Sacramento? Cost is $185 for a one-week session.
  10. Summer Camp at Kids Studio of Fine Arts. If your child is artsy, or just interested in art, you’ll find the perfect session for them at the Kids Studio of Fine Arts this summer. Choose from camps ranging from Disney Inspired Fashion Design to Video Game Character Design, Paintings and Acrylics to All Things Pokémon. Cost ranges from $145-$155 for a one-week, half day camp session.
